A Random Update

It has been a couple of weeks since I updated they have just been busy weeks for us. I thought I would do one large random update.

Nana and Papa were here two weeks ago. As always it was so nice to spend time with them and the kids really enjoyed all their loving. Each kid got to spend their own day with Nana and Papa and they both enjoyed it. We miss seeing them since they moved so it is even more important to make the time we do spend with them very special.

My parents were here last weekend with my sister, brother-in-law and their kids. The house was crazy, loud and a mess, but it was such a fun time for all. The kids are very close to their cousins and I love that they have a good relationship with them. I did not get to see my counsins much growing up, so I really wanted it to be different for my kids. I really wanted them to treasure their family and have good relationships with them, we are so blessed they do. Emma loves my 8 year old niece and Jack follows my 4 year old nephew around. They laugh and play together it is too fun to watch, more importantly they are forming life-long bonds with family and for that we are so thankful.

I love Texas!! The weather here can not be beat. We have had snow for the kids to play in and just when we got sick of the cold it was 75 degrees, the best of both worlds. We went to the zoo Monday and had a total blast. The kids are at perfect ages for the zoo for different reasons. Jack loves learning the animals names and the sounds they make and Emma loves for me to read the signs to her so she can learn more about the animals and their habitats. We renewed our zoo passes again and I can't wait for another year of learning and fun. We chose not to renew our passes to the museum but to get ones to NRH2O our local water park instead. We have friends that also get passes to the water park too so it is a built in playdate at least once a week. I think we will also do our seaworld passes again as they pay for themselves in one visit, but I am hoping we can take several this year.

Emma is doing very well, she likes school except for naptime. She is reading more and more each day and has started picking up sight words. She is excited about Kindergarten next year and really likes the teacher she will have. She can count up to 100 and started simple addition last week. It is amazing to see her learn and grow. I adore this age and watching her soak everything up. We are still planning on two years of kinder, but might have her tested her second year to go up to first grade instead, we will wait and see how it all plays out. Swimming is hit and miss three weeks ago she swam horribly someone who was with us actually said "maybe swimming is not her thing" I don't blame her for the way she was swimming. Last week she swam two 25 yard laps freestyle with breathing to the side. It was amazing and easliy qualified her for swim team. She had a sub teacher that week and sadly I think she has outgrown her old teacher, we love her, but Emma is not on her game when with her. The bottom line is that she is 4 and swimming amazingly well for her age. She starts T-ball next week and is very excited, the name of her team is lugnuts too funny. She also still does gymnastics once a week. We are busy busy busy but would not have it any other way.

Jack oh my little Jack. Jack has never been as verbal as Emma was at his age so I think we overlook his skills a little bit. The other day in the car he out of the blue decided to count with Emma he counted from one to fifteen, I had no idea he could count past two. Today he spelled his name and Emma's to me um okay where did that one come from? He also seems to have picked up his colors in the past week so that is a new thing too. His mothers day out does not do anything academic which I am good with, so it will be interesting to see what he learns when he is actually being exposed to stuff daily. Jack is an amazing swimmer for his age. He is learning to role over to breathe and can float on his back by himself. He is the only kid in his class and the private lesson has been really good for him. The only issue we have with both him and Emma is they have skilled out of the program, the next step for Jack will be a preschool class in which he has to be 3, and Emma is an Elementary class in which she has to be 6. They are both ready for the classes next session but are not old enough, we are still working with their swim acadmy to figure this out. One of the biggest things which I love that has changed about Jack is he now loves being read to, he gets three books at nap and bedtime. He loves to sit and listen and we love to read to him. He has memorized a lot of parts of the books and I still think it is as amazing to hear as when Emma did it.

Andrew and I am doing well, he recently recieved a promotion at work so while I know it probably means more hours I am proud of him and all his hard work. I have recently been offered a job for 5 to 10 hours a week, I love what I am doing and it does not keep me from the kids at all. I still can not get over how unbelievebly blessed we are life is really really good right now and I am so thankful.

This will be a year of weddings and babies. Next week Emma is a flower girl in a wedding and then one of my best friends will be married this summer. Another amazing friend who has been struggling with infertility just found out she was due next fall. I can not wait to go baby shopping and am so very excited for her, it has been in our prayers for sometime now and our God is so good.

Well that is it for now I will follow this post with one full of pictures.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Yep it is that time of year again, nope not Christmas or any holiday for that matter. It is that time of year when Andrew works those nice 90 hour work weeks, you know every single day for 15 hours a day. We don't see him at all and I feel like a single Mom. Well anyway we were looking for something to do last Saturday and it happened that my friend Dana's husband was sick so she was looking for something to do to. Since we are in Texas the weather was beautiful and mild, in the middle of January!! (I do love Texas weather)So we went to feed the ducks, play at the park, off to the church playground then lunch at McDonalds. It was a wonderful time, the kids and I truly enjoyed it, there is nothing like spending the day with friends to fill up your heart and soul. We are so blessed to have friends like these.
